This site was created under the project "What are you doing neighbor - a visit to the Internet", implemented through the Operational Programme Cross-border cooperation SR-CR 2007-2013 in cooperation with the city Slavičín in the Czech Republic.
Our aim is to increase the use of information technology in the border region by building online networks of digital information content. Other project objectives are to improve access to people involved in both sites to information technologies, to improve access to current information and events of life in the neighboring republic, to improve the exchange of information and to improve cooperation between local authorities in the SR and CR, an extension of protection against floods by using the latest information technology, support and expand tourism in the region and expand cultural awareness of both nations.
Horné Srnie a Slavičín lie near the Czech-Slovak border. The distance of both sites is about 19 km.
Horné Srnie is the northernmost village in the district and the region of Trencin, is situated about 17 km far from the city of Trencin. It lies on the border with the Czech Republic, is a typical border village.
Evidence of the first written mention of village Possessio seu Villa Zerny has been in a deed of donation by June 11th, 1439. The settlement at that time belonged to the castle Súča which was owned by the estate of Trencin Castle. Later, in 1633, developed Jan Amos Komensky map of the border area of the White Carpathian Mountains, where is mentioned the settlement SERNI.
The beginning of organized industrial business may be the year 1788, when the construction of glassworks began. Glassworks and other "factories" in Rajkovec (around 1800 - mill, saw, tannery) were made during the period of the genus Ilesházy in Trencin county. In 1883, the limestone quarry was founded by Italian entrepreneur Giovanni Batista Pisetta of Trento in place of the current cement factory, which supplied the limestone blocks. In 1888 the first railway was opened between Moravia and Slovak, which led through our valley and which significantly improved connection to the world community.
Currently, Horné Srnie is a modern industrial village with a comprehensive built infrastructure. The village center is protected by regulation of the river bed of Vlara. The village has a complete gas distribution, water and sewer with the sewer network. For residents of the village and its visitors serves the schoolyard, gym, ski lift and tennis courts.
Slavičín City - the first historical mention of Slavičín Region dated from the 1141. According to the deed of donation from the Olomouc Bishop Bruno Schauenburk, Slavičín was devoted to Helembert di Turna in 1256. At that time there was a church and rectory. The original settlements Mladotice and Slavičín merged into a single official name Slavičín - Mladotice used until 1946.
The development of the city was influenced by the proximity to the border of Hungary and Vlársky priesmyk, through which penetrated not only the effects of civilization, but also the army of Hungarians, Tartars and Turks.
The population was mostly agricultural. One of the most important crafts was The craft, there were only the most important, although mentioned peculiarity among professions, and it was castraton of cattle, which made the local men famous both at home and abroad. For Slavičín the greatest importance had the development of the footwear industry. With the creation of factory Detona in 1936, later called Vlárska Engineering Works, the expansion of engineering began.
Since World War II has undergone extensive development Slavičín and in 1964 it became a city.
